Carlos Blaschke, MD is a House Physician and the Director of Clinical Research at the University of Miami, Diabetes Research Institute.


Carlos Blaschke’s interest in type 1 diabetes research started early on as a medical student working at the University of Miami Thyroid Research Laboratory, where he was testing autoantibodies for different autoimmune diseases like T1D.  For over 15 years, under the leadership of Dr. Jay Skyler DRI’s deputy director and former chairman of the Type 1 diabetes NIH TrialNet Clinical Trials Study Group, Dr. Blaschke has been involved in the conduction and coordination of multiple type 1 diabetes research projects including the NIH type 1 diabetes TrialNet Research at the University of Miami. Dr Blaschke’s pledge to find a cure for T1D is inspired by the commitment and involvement of patients and family members determined to improve the quality of life of T1D patients and find a cure for their loved ones.
