Diabetes Research Institute and Foundation Take Top Honors in National Annual Report Competition

Hollywood, FL (July, 2003) — The Diabetes Research Institute and Foundation received top honors from the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP) for their joint annual report, “Turning Hope into Reality.”

The publication earned the 2002 Visions Platinum Award, the highest rank, in the Educational/Non-profit category, and was ranked 54th out of the Top 100 reports.

According to Christine Kennedy, LACP’s Competition Director, the 2002 Visions Awards drew an unprecedented number of entries across a broad range of industries and organizational sizes. “More than 900 entries were submitted, so competition was exceptionally tough. Winners in this year’s competition demonstrated an outstanding focus on shareholders, their interests, and their need to understand the strategic and tactical decisions their companies are making,” said Kennedy.

“This is an incredible honor considering the company we were in and the number of entries submitted for this year’s competition,” said Lori Weintraub, Director of Public Relations and Marketing for the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation. “We are really pleased that our efforts to communicate the DRI’s research achievements toward a cure for diabetes has been recognized for excellence at the national level.”
