Santa Claus Pens Personal Letters to Children for Christmas

Jolly Ol’ Saint Nick fundraiser benefits Diabetes Research Institute

Nov. 30, 2017 – Hollywood, FL –Imagine the joy and amazement of a child’s face to see a letter addressed to him/her from the one and only Santa Claus this Christmas.

Each letter is unique and personalized–complete with a North Pole Stamp–to a child in any part of the world for a minimum $15 donation to the Diabetes Research Institute.

A child does not have to have diabetes to receive a letter from Santa. To send a letter click this www.YourSantaLetter.org

These personalized letters, which can be requested by parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles or any other family member or friend, can include details like a reference to a toy or game on the child’s wish list or even mention something about their beloved pet.

Santa can even encourage them and remind them that he knows how well they have been trying to manage their diabetes. The deadline for participation is midnight on December 11 in the USA and December 6 for any area outside the USA.

In its seventh year, the fundraiser, spearheaded by a volunteer group of “elves” will get letters to children by Christmas day and is a remarkable way to make this year a little more special for your young loved one.

“What more can you ask for to make your child smile and be happy this Christmas while also helping a great cause of funding research to find a cure to diabetes,” said Tom Karlya, Vice President at the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation. “Each letter is tailored to the individual child and the more information you give, the more personal it will be. It’s a great opportunity to help make a child feel incredibly special and excited for Santa’s arrival.”

About the Diabetes Research Institute and Foundation
The mission of the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation is to provide the Diabetes Research Institute with the funding necessary to cure diabetes now. The Diabetes Research Institute at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine leads the world in cure-focused research. As the largest and most comprehensive research center dedicated to curing diabetes, the DRI is aggressively working to develop a biological cure by restoring natural insulin production and normalizing blood sugar levels without imposing other risks. Researchers have already shown that transplanted islet cells allow patients to live without the need for insulin therapy. Some study participants have maintained insulin independence for more than 10 years. The DRI is now building upon these promising outcomes by developing a DRI BioHub, a bioengineered “mini organ” that mimics the native pancreas. While various BioHub platforms are being tested in preclinical and clinical studies, the DRI is also developing strategies to eliminate the need for anti-rejection drugs and reset the immune system to block autoimmunity.
