NEW YORK (Dec. 21, 2023) – New York City’s Cipriani Wall Street played host to the real estate and construction industries for the 39th annual Empire Ball benefiting the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation (DRIF). 500 attendees enjoyed a spectacular evening of five-star dining, dancing, and a shared purpose – their tireless dedication to finding a cure for type 1 diabetes.

Bruce Mosler, Chairman of Global Brokerage at Cushman & Wakefield, and Mike Anello, Senior Vice President at Turner & Townsend, were the evening’s esteemed honorees whose passion for the DRIF’s mission filled the room with positivity, motivation, and courage to continue working toward a diabetes-free future.

“The DRI stands at the forefront of diabetes research,” said DRIF Chief Executive Officer, Michael Burton. “We are committed to one of the most ambitious goals in medical science – the prevention and cure of diabetes. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to all our sponsors and donors who made this evening such a tremendous success.”

As part of a longstanding tradition that highlights the impact of the Empire Ball, the DRI has once again partnered with prominent buildings and structures throughout the United States, Canada, and the UK to light the sky blue to raise awareness for the critical work being done to find a cure for diabetes. About the Diabetes Research Institute (DRI) and Foundation
The Diabetes Research Institute (DRI) and Foundation were created for one reason – to cure diabetes – which is and will continue to be the singular focus until that goal is reached. As one of the largest and most comprehensive research centers dedicated to curing diabetes, the DRI is working to restore natural insulin production and normalize blood sugar levels without imposing other risks. Researchers have already shown that transplanted insulin-producing islet cells allow people with type 1 diabetes to live without the need for insulin injections. Some of the DRI’s islet transplant patients have been free from insulin for more than 10 years. Funding provided by the Foundation is the driving force that allows DRI scientists to pursue new and innovative ideas, and to speed these discoveries to patients. The Diabetes Research Institute Foundation is the organization of choice for those who want to Be Part of the Cure. For more information, please visit DiabetesResearch.org or call 800-321-3437.
