The Diabetes Research Institute Foundation, Inc. (“Foundation”) is strongly committed to protecting the privacy of our donors, website visitors and other individuals who communicate with the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation. We also want to assist you to better understand the information we gather, how we handle it, whether we disclose it to anyone, and your options regarding our use of, and your ability to correct, this information. Donor Information

If you make a donation, either online or otherwise, we will request certain personally identifiable information about you (such as your name, address, telephone number, email address, and credit card information. This information enables us to process your donation and communicate with you about it. In addition, we may use such information to improve our marketing and promotional efforts, keep you updated about our work, analyze website usage, and improve our website’s content, layout, and services.

We may also collect from you the personal information about your contacts – specifically, those individuals for whom you may make a gift in tribute, register for an event, or make another financial contribution for in order to fulfill that transaction.

The Foundation may contract and work with third-party service providers to use Personal Information in order to better serve our users, conduct our business and improve our website.  These third-party service providers are not permitted to share or use the information collected except to help the Foundation conduct its business and improve its services. This Privacy Policy applies to all information received by the Foundation, either online or offline, as well as any electronic, written or oral communications. The Foundation engages companies to assist us with such functions as hosting our website, donor information database, sending postal mail and email, modeling our data, and processing online and mail donations and credit card payments. These companies have access to personal donor information as needed to perform their functions. The Foundation requires that these companies keep such information confidential and are authorized to use your personal information only as necessary to provide these services to us. We may retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. You may also have an opportunity to complete questionnaires on our website or in the mail. Certain information collected from such questionnaires may be used to improve and enhance your experience on this website and/or for our research activities. For example, we may take such information, individually or aggregately, and share such information with unaffiliated third parties, in an anonymous form, which means that the shared information will not contain nor be linked to any Personal Information. Certain related information may also be provided to third parties for research, development or other similar purposes in furtherance of our mission. The Foundation occasionally rents or exchanges its donor list with other qualified nonprofit organizations to off-set fundraising costs. We respect the privacy of our supporters and, as such, would be pleased to exclude you from our list rental and exchange program.  Please contact us directly at any time at info@drif.org if you wish to be removed from the email and/or mailing list or if you would like to correct or change the personal information you have previously provided. To protect your privacy and security, we will take certain steps to verify your identity before granting access to your information or making corrections.

Other Information

Through our sites or otherwise, you may decide to submit personally identifiable information (such as your name, postal address, email address or connection to diabetes) for purposes other than donating (such as receiving an email newsletter or further information as to a particular topic). Security

The personal information that you provide is stored in a secure location and accessible only by designated employees trained in the proper handling of personal information. We employ industry standard techniques such as firewalls, encryption, intrusion detection, and site monitoring to protect your personally identifiable information from unauthorized access by users inside and outside the organization. Browsing our Website

The Foundation does not collect any personally identifying information from you when you visit our sites unless you choose to provide such information to us.

You can browse the Foundation sites without telling us who you are or revealing any information about yourself. The Foundation may use web analytics services that may record mouse clicks, mouse movements, scrolling activity, text you type in the Sites, and similar activity.
