Alejandra Cordovez, R.D., L.D./N., C.N.S.C.

Alejandra Cordovez is a registered and licensed dietitian at the Diabetes Research Institute.  Mrs. Cordovez graduated Magna Cum Laude from Florida International University with a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Nutrition. She completed her dietetic internship at the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center, where she provided nutrition support for patients with complex medical conditions in adult and pediatric medicine and surgery, cardiology, neurology, bone marrow and solid organ transplantation, and intensive care units.

Prior to joining the Diabetes Research Institute, Alejandra worked as a clinical dietitian at Baptist Hospital providing medical nutrition therapy for patients on the Medical/Surgical unit and rehabilitation facility and served as a member of the Wound Care Team. She obtained her certification in Nutrition Support, which specializes in optimizing nutrition outcomes for patient receiving enteral and parenteral nutrition.

At the Diabetes Research Institute, Mrs. Cordovez conducts individual counseling sessions, assisting patients with diabetes in developing a healthy meal plan which will help them achieve optimal outcomes in their diabetes management. She participates in the various classes offered by the education department and develops bilingual education material for the patients. She is a member of the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE).
